Lake St Clair - Central Highlands

Lake St Clair -- The end of the Overland track from Cradle Mtn

There are some places which though they are in landscapes of exceptional loveliness, are more than just beautiful.
They have a quality of significance too, their location is not arbitrary, but intended and satisfying.
LAKE ST CLAIR is such a place

Australia's deepest freshwater lake & the source of the Derwent river

The white dot in distance is an old power station

Trout fishing is popular in season with a permit
The ferry runs 13km to Narcissus Bay, picks up walkers from the Overland track
We were going to take a ride, but the weather was so bad, decided against it

We read a sign somewhere along the way that fox's were only introduced in Tassie in
1992

That's amazing as I thought the pioneers from 1800's would have brought them in, so they could go fox hunting, like they did inthe Old Dart!

Maybe just didn't have time, to do those things, while building a new colony & looking after convict population !!!
